Who can legally perform a marriage in the state of Connecticut?
In Connecticut, marriages can be performed by Clergy Members, Judges, Justices of the Peace, or individuals ordained by recognized organizations.

Is this suitable for first time officiants?
YES! We designed our workshop and coaching materials to help the first-time officiant succeed. For those who have officiated before, there’s always something new to learn.
What technology or resources do I need for the live online classes?
A personal computer or tablet with a strong internet connection is all that’s required. Our materials are provided via PDF and our live 1-on-1 sessions or group workshops are conducted on Zoom.

What is the age requirement for officiating a wedding?
In the US, you must be at least 18 years of age to officiate a wedding except in Minnesota where the age requirement is 21 or above.
What types of learning options do you offer?
We offer three different ways for you to deliver an amazing ceremony. Self-Taught Prep-Guide, 1-on-1 Coaching Sessions or a Live Group Workshop.
Can I perform the ceremony even if I don’t want to sign the license?
You can have the honor of performing a symbolic ceremony without the legal responsibility. In this instance, the couple should arrange a simple marriage license signing with a qualified officiant before the ceremony. Reach out to us for more on this option. We are happy to help!
Do you need witnesses to get married in Connecticut?
Connecticut does not require any witnesses to a marriage. However, other US States do, so be sure to check the laws where the marriage will take place.
What is the role of a Wedding Officiant? Are there different types of Officiants?
A wedding officiant creates and leads the ceremony, ensuring it is personal and legally valid. Officiants can be either religious (such as Clergy, Pastors, or Ministers) or secular (such as appointed Justices of the Peace, or ordained individuals through a non-religious organization).
How do I get ordained to officiate a wedding? How long does it take?
You can get ordained online through a recognized organization, often in just a few minutes. We recommend American Marriage Ministries.
Do I need proof of my ordination to sign the marriage license?
In Connecticut, you are currently not required to register with the state, but you may want to obtain credentials in case you are asked by local authorities to provide proof. Other states do require you to register as an ordained minister. Check your local laws before agreeing to officiate a wedding.

Absolutely! Our coaching sessions focus on creating a ceremony, writing a couples love story and conducting the ceremony on the wedding day; all elements that are universal throughout the country and around the world. However, we strongly urge you to check with your state’s local laws before proceeding.
