Kathy Vass discovered her calling as a professional wedding officiant after transitioning from a career in graphic design and marketing. On her 40th birthday, she became an Ordained Minister and began officiating custom, love story-centered wedding ceremonies in 2018. To deepen her expertise, Kathy completed an Associate’s Program with The Celebrant Academy, studying the history of ceremonies, rituals, and ceremony writing. She is also a Justice of the Peace in Stratford, Connecticut. She has been privileged to work with couples of all backgrounds, faiths and ethnicities, and proudly welcomes our LGBTQ+ community.

Kathy’s favorite part of her work is listening to couples' stories and creating personalized ceremonies that reflect their unique connection. Whether weaving in funny anecdotes or crafting original rituals, she takes pride in making each ceremony meaningful and engaging for couples and their guests. “I get a rush when I look out into the crowd and connect with a particular guest.” she says. “When I see that they are completely absorbed in the moment, then I know I’ve done my job well!”

When not officiating weddings, networking with fellow wedding pros or coaching guest officiants with her colleague Shelley Armatino, Kathy enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and their fluffy terrier, Wilma. Walking along the beach is her favorite way to recharge and get inspired for the next ceremony script. Pizza or Mexican is a welcomed reward when all the hard work is done!
